Content
Venue: Ecological Training and Education Centre of Midigama Fruit Farm, Midigama, Matara Project/ Case studies More than one day will be dedicated to excursions and fieldwork in which the participants will develop ideas and make contacts in different organizations and communities. Teams of students will be assigned case studies to investigate using broad social perspectives of governance, gender and planning. The case studies are diverse in nature, impact and complexity. The aim of the project is to structure and quantify the problems, and to suggest workable solutions. The teams of students should take the initiative to discuss their projects with the residential staff or with the guest lecturers along the workshop. The teams will do the required research on their own, including online and library searches. Where feasible, they can make new observations or interviews in the field. At the end of the workshop, the teams will present their draft projects to the residential lecturers. The final report is due latest two weeks after completion of the workshop and will be submitted digitally. Syllabus Full description available at our Learning Management System (link). Students will be able to retrieve preparatory literature in all subjects of the workshop. Housing, trips and social interaction All students attending the workshop will be lodged in the same hostel in the Modigama Fruit Farm, calm, quiet and greenery surroundings. All meals are catered for, in campus and in outings. All participants are expected to contribute to the social life, including the organization of the event and performances in the final evening of the workshop. Certificate A certificate of completion (workshop and project) will be issued together with the syllabus for the course. The syllabus indicates the workload, for credit calculation (7 ECTS). Kindly note that this is a work-intensive workshop that requires active participation from everyone. Unstable political circumstances or power supply in the country may lead to changes in the agenda, in short notice. |
