Internships and work experiences During the periods of mobility, at least 12 students will have the opportunity to perform an internship in the industry, civil society organizations or administration of either Norway or Sri Lanka. A work experience abroad is important for professional development. These internships will be performed in partner organizations, and these will be advertised here.
Blue Resources Trust
At Blue Resources Trust we aim to promote informed science based decision making to facilitate the sustainable use of marine resources. We believe in promoting education and awareness and encouraging greater participation of local communities in conservation. Our team has extensive experience working in Sri Lanka and internationally, and has built partnerships with numerous national and international organizations. Blue Resources Trust also acts as a platform for scientists and conservationists to expand research and improve marine resource management in Sri Lanka and the greater region.
JAY SEAFOODS PROCESSING (PVT) Ltd
Jay Sea Foods Processing is one of the best seafood exporters in South Asia. As a pioneer in the industry, we have been trading in fish since 1979. Taprobane Seafoods Ltd is the company that received the first batch of interns, in January 2020. This is a major company in Sri Lanka specializing in the export of processed Blue swimmer crab and recently on the production of shrimp in aquaculture. The visiting students will perform research and write a research report on topics of mutual interest within business management, marketing and aquaculture production.
The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (Havforskningsinstituttet) is a national consultative research institute which is owned by the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs. The Institute performs research and provides advisory services in the fields of marine ecosystems and aquaculture. With a staff of almost 750, the Institute of Marine Research is the largest centre of marine research in Norway. The Institute has a highly qualified scientific staff, high-technology research stations and laboratories in Austevoll, Bergen (head office), Flødevigen (Arendal) and Matre, a department in Tromsø and several vessels.
Akvaplan-niva is a Norwegian research-based corporation, established in 1984 to provide environmental consulting services and research. Since 1994, the company has had offices in the Framsenteret in Tromsø. The company also has offices in Alta, Bodø, Trondheim, Bergen, Ski, Oslo and Reykjavik. Akvaplan-niva is a subsidiary of NIVA. The company is organized into three departments (aquaculture, environment and laboratories / infrastructure). In 2021, Akvaplan-niva has 130 employees, researchers and advisers.
The Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF) is an annual film festival held during the third week of January in Tromsø, Norway. The inaugural Tromsø International Film Festival was held in 1991.TIFF has 5 screening venues, including one outdoor snow cinema. The total of admissions in 2014 it was 58167, which makes TIFF Norway's biggest film festival.
